Event Type: NONE Age Group(s): Adults Date: 3/1/2017 Start Time: 10:30 AM End Time: 11:30 AM Description: In 1864, Navajo people were forced to walk over 450 miles to Fort Sumner in eastern New Mexico. Imprisoned on a 40-square mile reservation for four long years, the people suffered unimaginable conditions. In 1868, an agreement finally allowed the Navajos to return to a portion of their original lands located in northeastern Arizona and northwestern New Mexico. The audience will hear the Navajo elders’ version of the Long Walk. On the day of the program free tickets (limit two) can be picked up at the Customer Service Desk from the time the Library opens until capacity is reached.
