Summary: A uniquely beautiful short novel from YA writer Woodson, this time writing for an adult audience. This novel traces the childhood of a young girl, growing up in 1970's Brooklyn from her perspective as an adult 20 years later. The book explores the power of female friendships, the families we create when our own are insufficient, the power of memory, loss, and hope. It is a powerful, poetic, short novel.
