Event Type: Adult Age Group(s): Adults, Teens Date: 11/2/2015 Start Time: 6:45 PM End Time: 8:15 PM Description: Research has documented that our brains are not hardwired and static but have an amazing ability to change physically, functionally, and chemically throughout our lives. Its called neuro-plasticity. This ability plays an incredibly important role in our brain development and in shaping our distinct personalities.
Library: North Valley Regional Library location Further, it is by plasticity our brains can overcome setbacks inflicted some by medical events, and it is also what makes it possible for humans to train our brain to change, to adapt to new conditions, to new environments. Some of the most remarkable intellectual accomplishments were achieved by individuals with brain damage and even low IQ - demonstrating that the brain has its ways to overcome such obstacles. This evening, we will take a look at where science is today in understanding the brain and what we all can do to keep this three pound organ fit. Registration is recommended. This program is co-sponsored by the New Friends of the North Valley Library. Registration Ends: 11/2/2015 at 6:45 PM Contact: Pamela Blair-Sheldon Contact Number: 602.652.3301 Status: Closed |
