Event Type: Craft Age Group(s): Teens, Adults Date: 2/11/2026 Start Time: 2:00 PM End Time: 4:00 PM Description: Make an African Shekere (pronounced: SHAY-kuh-ray), a musical instrument consisting of a hollow gourd (calabash) and colorful beads. Its origins are West African; African Slaves brought their rich musical traditions with them on slave ships. You will have a unique and beautiful instrument that you can use while dancing, singing, or accompanying in a drum circle. All materials provided. Funded by the Friends of the Sun City Libraries. Teens & adults.
