Phoenix Art Museum docents present Strike Up the Band: A Musical Journey of Art. Take a musical journey through art history, beginning four thousand years ago and up to the present day to see how artists have depicted and been influenced by the sounds and rhythms of music in their artworks.  A native of New Jersey, presenter Melinda Donovan has lived in Goodyear, AZ for the past twenty-two years. She has a degree in music and a lifelong love of and involvement in the performing arts. For many years she was a Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Extensive travel in Europe and the USA gave her the opportunity to visit many major museums, which enhanced her knowledge of and interest in art, and led to her joining the Phoenix Art Museum’s Docent program in 2010. Melinda also served on the Goodyear Arts and Culture Commission for six years, as both Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and host of the Hot Coffee Lectures.
