Library: Georgia T. Lord Library Library location The Art of Tea follows the history of tea and its depiction in art. In China, almost 5,000 years ago, a single leaf fell into a bowl of hot water. Camellia sinensis, a popular tree, gave us the first tea leaf, and soon the world was enjoying a cup of tea. For centuries, artists have used a wide variety of styles and different media to tell us stories about tea and the customs, rituals, and even historical events that surround it.
