Handpans are new musical instruments inspired by the Hang, an instrument invented and built by the Swiss company PANArt Hangbau in 2000. Each note that is struck activates several overtones, giving handpans a mesmerizing and rich sound. French native Sylvain Paslier has been playing the instrument since 2005, performing internationally and recording albums. Funded by the Fountain Hills Friends of the Library.
